Synopsis

After living a comfortable and sheltered life growing up, Caleb Hunt decides it’s finally time to leave his home town and make it on his own. He moves to Los Dios, a city famed for prosperity despite having a darker past. Caleb dreams of being a popular music producer and DJ, hoping that moving to the city will get him in the public eye. However, he ends up with more attention than he bargains for when he meets Hasuko and falls in with her strange and eclectic group of friends. He attracts the curiosity of the powerful Genesys Corporation, which could be either a blessing or a curse.

Caleb is stuck between many difficult decisions and keeping up with his new hectic life. But perhaps a little chaos can be a good thing… and maybe he can build stronger relationships with his new friends, perhaps even find love? Strengthening his bonds with different people can have many different outcomes, some more mundane than others. Everyone has baggage, but getting involved is always a choice.

Setting

The story takes place in the city of Los Dios, a fictional city in some ambiguous part of the United States. In this reality, androids with human-like AI exist among humans in a limited quantity, where only the truly wealthy are able to afford one. Androids are a luxury, since most jobs or tasks can be accomplished with less advanced robots. Androids can commonly serve as servants and caretakers, but naturally there are people who prefer to use them for less than ideal reasons.

Los Dios is an important place for androids who desire liberation, since it is the only city with policies that put them on equal standing with humans. For this reason, many refugee androids travel to Los Dios for an independent life where they can be treated as a normal person. Most androids are taken in by Genesys, though it’s not really understood why. They are sheltered and provided for with no cost, and can work a regular job there if they choose. Many people assume Genesys is taking part in some shady business, but no one knows exactly what.

Playlist

This is just a playlist I put together that can help inspire me when I’m working on the story. I choose songs based on if they suit characters, places, themes, or just general feelings that go along with it. I know it’s not super specific, but it’s not like it has to be, since it just works for me!

Here’s the direct link to the playlist on Spotify.
